I know, but for the ammount that it actually picks up VS the ammount of falses I figured fuck it.
I'd rather it on but it does my head in. CAVEMAN.

Caveman! LOL
No it doesn't decrease K-band because the Kustom dash mounted (K-band) radar used here in WA is circular polarized.

Feel free to turn off K-band untill you get into the 80+km/h zones.
It is very rare for the cops to have car mounted radar turned on in the metro area. |

That's one of the reasons I love the Valentine One (V1) so much.
There is an automatic muting mode in the V1 just for K-band. When most radar detectors pick up, say, a k-band signal they alert at the full volume (or whatever volume you have set) and then will quieten down by roughly 50% if you have the "automute" enabled. If you then press the mute button, it silences your detector completely until the radar source passes. The Valentine One can be programmed differently. Firstly, the V1 has two volume knobs/controls (the master volume knob, and a secondary volume lever behind the knob). When you hit the mute button on a V1 , it doesn't completely silence it (like other radar detectors), it simply reverts the volume to this secondary volume lever. So instead of (only being) completely silent, the "muted volume" can be adjusted to any level exactly like the master volume (completely silent, to full volume) What does this mean? Well we can use this adjustment to our advantage in the set-up of a Valentine One. When the V1 first detects a K-band signal, instead of alerting at the full volume (master volume knob) we tell it to alert at the "muted volume" (secondary volume lever, which remember, we can set at anything from zero to full volume). I personally have this "muted voume" set to just audible. The Valentine will only jump into FULL volume if one of two scenarios occurs Either The K-band signal is detected for longer than a pre-programmed set time (I have mine set to 30 seconds) OR The K-band signal strength goes over a pre-programmed level (I have mine set for 75%) So if you detect a K-band signal, it only beeps just quietly unless the signal strength is over 75% or you are picking it up for more than 30 seconds. You could even set the secondary volume to ZERO, so it doesn't beep at all until 30 seconds / 75% strength. The lights on the front still light up etc, just the volume is adjusted like this. As you drive past petrol stations, it usually doesn't breach this 75% signal strength threshold, therefore you don't get the continuous beeping like you do with other detectors. If it does breach 75% in signal strength (sometimes as you draw level with the petrol station / automatic door opener) as soon as you pass the source, and the signal is behind you (rear antenna), it can be programmed to drop the volume BACK to the "muted level". None of this relates to Ka-band or laser, just K-band. Makes for a MUCH quieter ride without sacrificing sensitivity.
