Well I have been Running 3 nights a week with friends for just over a month now.
And once a week we do the beep test as a guide to see improvement.

I also have stopped drinking during the week. This makes a big difference I hear.

I don't understand why people who are trying to get fit still go out every night on the piss and smoke surely this must make it totally pointless . And the commitment isn't there.

I do find it very hard to keep motivated the best thing that helps is doing it with friends as you push each other.

I'm currently 87kg I want to get back to 80 to 82 it's mostly my beer belly i think lol.

Although im finding this thread inspirational when im running on the tready at home...just smashed my PB for 5 km, ran a 21:51...however i think i might go spew now

I can be running around the oval if i am by my self I will stop at a certain point and go yeah enough. but if running with someone i keep pushing because they are still running haha.

Only problem i am having is I feel like my body isn't really getting ahead and haven't lost any weight either.

You mean the Busselton Ironman? ie Swim 3.8klm, Cycle 180klm then finish with a full 42.3klm Marathon?

Thats like swimming from the Narrows Bridge to Raffles, hopping on a bike for a lazy cycle to Bunbury, then its a leisurely jog on to Margaret River.

Good luck.

Actually a friend of mine is doing it this year, but in order to qualify to do the full race as a solo competitor, you have to have completed a half ironman triathlon in the past 18 months.

exactly your problem. you want to see results?

5-6 meals a day, good wholesome healthy food. no junk food. avoid sugar (unless its fruit). cut booze.

Pretty much what Chee said, break your 3 main meals up into 6 smaller meals. Carbs in the morning protein in the afternoon. With that method you always stay fairly full during the day and you are less likely to binge.

Where would this be holding me back? Weight and or general cardio?

I really need to get some sort of plan to follow otherwise id just be guessing.
and it will be harder to follow.

It's the discipline of trying to eat correct as well.
