Range on the cameras was anywhere from 30m to 400m, it just depends on things like how the camera is placed, other traffic, the amount of charge the Multanova battery has left - things like that. I have found however, that the X50 def has better range on both K and Ka bands. But I do like the Bel talking to me when ambos are coming / road works etc. If you only got 50m warning, it was prob just unlucky that time, or slim chance, a faulty unit.

Do you mean the Escort Passport 8500 X50? I havn't seen many of these around locally - it's surprising to hear that you found it to have far better detection range.
how does price compare?

i got pulled up doin 106 in an 80 zone, just put the power on a bit to impress the boys, you know how it is...neways he gave me a fine and just wrote down the brand/type of detector it was, no lecture what so ever.
i find that with my detector if your only doing 5-10 k's over then theres enough time to slow down, but if your going crazy over limit it dosent give you enough warning, but with the hand helds theres pleanty of warning...havent been caught by 1 yet.

i think all these discussion are going nowhere..........

how about we organise some hand held & multinova at the REXPO and test out all the detectors and put this never ending story to rest?

Why would he give you a lecture? Radar Detectors are legal in WA. The Gov has spent alot of money implementing SWS into roadworks sites, ambo's etc - and i dont any "SWS Recievers" readily available in stores, do you? throwing away all our radar detectors would render that system near-useless.

its harder for a windscreen radar detector to pick up a hand held than a multinova coz the handheld is aimed at your number plate

While everyone is talking about radar detectors, does anyone know the legallity of the laser jammers? i.e. Blinder M20/M40's?

Also, are there any remote sensors for the RX65 to put near the numberplate? I find the handhelds never make a noise, since I have mine mounted about my rear vision mirror. Picks up the highway patrol nice and early though

yeah, you can get remote sensors, its called the RX75
stealth and sensors are located near/at the license plate area
so it will pick up hand held 99.9% of the time

its hard for the RX65 to pick up hand held coz the gun is pointed at your number plate.

Heh, other than getting a new detector, I've been looking at the Laserpro 904 add-on for the RX65, but I'm not sure how legal they are over here.

Whilst it is only jamming the laser gun for a little while and should be legal, I wouldn't want to cause any unnecessary attention from the police...

But given that I hardly even speed, I don't know why I want all these goodies
