Also to all the 'No Sunday Trading' people, why is that?

Shouldn't an individual be able to work out when they want to work? Maybe someone would prefer Tuesday off than a Sunday?

My parents live in Brisbane. When we are there if we need milk or something after 5-6pm then no worries, pop off down the road and its all good (as opposed to pay 3 times what milk is worth at a servo here).

When my parents came over for my engagement party my Mum needed some Vanilla essence for a pavlova and was compeltely tripped out when she went down the road and the sun was up and nothing was open.

I'm a modern person and as such I like to do what i want when I want, not be told by some old foggies when I can go and buy a fucking Orange Juice.

Amusing story id like to share - i was working at my sunday job at a call centre in joondalup when the referendum was being held and all the rest of the jargon was happening. Asked a lady what does she think of sunday trade - she replied i dont want that - i dont want to go to the shops on a sunday.
I said why not? i got

"people need to spend time with there kids and not spend it wandering around the shops spending money, familys dont have good relationships anymore"

i said ok fair call - knowing she had kids - i asked what her kids were up to today

"probably going into the city and shopping"........

i just smiled, nodded and thought this is why we dont have sunday trade.

fucking people are morons

I don't have a problem with supermarkets opening later each evening but for a shop like mine it would be pointless, if any of you go christmas shopping check out how many people go on the late nights other than the Thursday nights and you will be very supprised....no one around!! There are plenty of shopping hours now and most of the time the shops are dead. Trying to find someone to work on a Thursday night is bloody rediculous, if I have to employ somone to work every night of the week without getting any more money in the till then my prices will have to go up to compensate. The only businesses that will benefit from extended trading is Coles and Woolies and they have enough bloody money!

Voted late night and sunday trading as well.

I spend a month over east, Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane earlier this year. All of which had late night trading, i personally think it's about more than just shopping. It encourage's night in general.

Take Perth (every where not just the CBD) at the moment, everything closes at 5:30-6:00pm. So what does everyone do? they go home. What's the point going anywhere else, everything will be shut anyway!

With shops open later people will be out an about later as well. Meaning they might go to a resteraunt/pub/takeaway place for dinner, they might go see a movie.. and so on.

Over east you can go to most resteraunts at 11-12 at night, and not find them closed with everyone gone home! There all still open and trading. The business is there because people are still out doing things IE shopping with late night trading!

If only to make these things easier on everyone:

1) Finding a spot to park your car without needing to carry 2l of water with you
2) Getting evey asshole and his brother off the roads on a Thursday between 5pm and 9pm
3) Not having to wait 5 deep in cues while the ice cream and meat all defrost

If a major shopping centre opens for extended trading, all shops, big and small are expected to open. This law needs changing before the majority of Perth people will vote for extended trading hours.

Many small businesses/small retail stores would not be able to absorb the extra costs of longer opening hours.

12 hour shift? Penalty rates.
Working past 6 pm? Penalty rates.
Working Sunday? Penalty rates, and some.

Go run a small business on small margins, then come back and start crowing for extended shopping hours.

Go go gadget flamesuit.
