How can they say 'speeding' if the speed ranges they quote are withing the +/- 10% (72 to 88) ADR compliance range for that speed zone??

They seriously ignore the truth or negate to acknowlege the real facts. They use the general publics ignorance to empower themselves.

Its reasons like this no one has faith in the government or the police. Of course everyone speeds through there, they are accelerating up to 100kmh which is 100m down from the bloody camera.

The +/-10% ADR hasn't existed for some time now, so it is a mute excuse. Current cars cannot show a speed lower than that of the road speed (i.e. cant show 100 and be doing 110, but can show 100 and be doing 91).

Most states in the past usually ignore the initial 10%, but Perth likes to get its $75. I still think you should get 1 or 2 '10%' warnings a year, then fine away.

My thoughts exactly. If speeding kills (and speed cameras are to lower the road toll, not to raise revenue) I ask the question, how many people died next to the Mill Point Road exit of the freeway traveling southbound on Monday and Tuesday between 8.50am and 11.30am and 8.50am and 1.35pm respectively.

Agree Must UNDER read now..... when new.

Variables: New tyres v's worn tyres induces an error & Tyre profile changes induces error.

Smaller diameter over reads, larger diameter under reads.

As of the 1st of July, 2006; all new model motor vehicles in Australia must comply with ADR 18/03 which is aligned with UNECE Regulation ... Which is an 8 kph variance, @ 24.5 c, with a 75 kg driver, an unladen vehicle, level road surface, read with a check instrument with a +/- 5% accuracy.......Yadda Yadda....

What's the average age of registered vehicles in W.a?

Yeah but always have to remember that ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

If you think your cars speedo is reading over by 10%, it is up to you to correct it.

My biggest hate is the lack of signage of speed zones. The last sign you might see exiting the Freeway, say onto Cranford Avenue is 60kmh, but once you turn onto Cranford Ave its a 50kmh road with a multanova clocking people for 54kmh (my brother got done for this).

If they really want people to 'obey' speed limits... Put some signs in! This business of turning off a street with 1 speed limit, but since there is no sign on the next street you have to do 50 is crap. Or how about the government issue/subsidise a GPS showing the current speed limit of the road you are on and your GPS speed. No problems then.
