In my view some of the most influential and best cars ever made
VW Beetle 1938 - 2003 (old shape) still recognisable after 65yrs of production. Mini Minor 1959 - current, Go cart like handling 50yrs ago. E Type Jaguar 1961 - 1975 150 mph Sex on wheels. Lamborghini Muira 1967 - first mid engined super car & possibly the most beautiful car ever made. Jag XJ6 1968 - 1992 - still to this day one of the most comfortable cars ever made

they can be broken, i work underground in a gold mine and we drive landcruisers, they can withstand a beating but everything breaks eventually, hence why there are mechanics on site 24/7

Believe it or not i am not kidding, it is not widely known but it is the gospel truth!
I actually raced Group A touring cars albeit in historics but they Had to be the actuall cars, i had one of Larry Perkins cars )see my build thread you will find a pic) Group A was a world wide formula but they only really raced the GTR here in Aus! they were never in the European series or the BTCC! And yes it did meet the homologation of 500 road cars but that was really a technicallity!

Ahh.. what about the Japanese Grand Touring series?
They were in abundant numbers there.. funnily enough being Japanese and all. To be eligable to race in group a they had to build 500 road going versions.. which is the first 500 they built. They built substantially more than that too. Nissan Japan choose to give Gibson motorsport access to the GTR as they had been pretty impressive running the HR31's before it. It didnt matter that it didnt run in Europe - FISA was in charge of the group a regs and they allowed it to race.. and FISA funnily enough was European.

You are right, thats why I mentioned it on the last page!
But it is very interesting to actually read how the GTR came into existance and why it became 4wd (because of the ten inch tyre rule for under 4000cc) and then why they increased the capacity from 2350cc to 2600cc (to run 11 inch tyres) I am not slating that the GTR was quite a THING, but it was david versus goliath back then! I could talk about Group C and Group A touring cars all day, it's a shame they canned them and also a shame they canned Group A rally cars! but i can understand Group B being killed off!

Much like the Europeans who bought their Cossies down under for Bathurst.. even if they did cheat. The reason none of the European teams ran the car was because they were too busy with the Sierra's and E30 M3's - plus Nissan Japan dictated who they wanted to run the cars. They had numerous teams in Japan, then Gibson motorsport and the private GTR that run here also.
