Anyway, dogs barking was just an example. Being on a corner and having one less neighbour negates the potential for having shit/inconsiderate/loud neighbours on one side. Simple. The noise from a car going past lasts a few seconds. Any stupid driver that tries to take the corner too quickly will be met with a limestone wall and huge pillar also, so the house is very well protected in that regard.

LOL at people ripping on your house. Would have been nice to buy a house 20-30 years ago when you could get a massive block for $200,000.

Houses > Cars (bottomless pits). Great work. Priorities are solid.
Certainly exciting being able to build your own place.

Yeah man, Caversham way? Done so many houses out that way.
Also to the people going on about lot size, these days what he has there is a good sized lot. I just finished up a whole street of 5 metre wide lots with a laneway running down the back of them for a new sub division going up. They are putting retaining walls either side of the lot too because the street is sloping. So let me break that down for you. Lot = 5000mm wide boundary to boundary Limestone retaining wall = 350mm wide x 2 for each side = 700mm Total so far to build in = 4300mm Add on bricks = 4300mm - 200mm for both outside walls of the house = 4100mm Hallway = usually about 600mm ~ 1000mm but lets say 600mm because of the small doorframes they are using now days = 3500mm Add in another 100mm for internal walls and you have 3 and a half metres of space from side wall to side wall to have bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen etc. Now most houses like this actually share a common wall inbetween them, they don't have driveways, they have a laneway out back with the garage facing the lane and maybe a small car bay designated out the front of the house on the main road. These blocks can be anywhere from 280m2 to say 350m2 depending on depth and usually sell for in excess or $380,000 each. So I'd say it's a good buy. The houses being developed now days are so stupid. We have all this space and they are designing it so we live on top of one another... Then they wonder why the roads are over crowded... |

They are all over the place, Wellard, Butler, Baldivis. Coming more of a common thing. Architecture is going downhill lately. Like I notice when I see older style home, say Morley and Spearwood area they have alot of arches, curves, walls, paths. Now days everything is square ans straight edge. No nice multi level step ups int he backyard nor planned out gardens and what have you. It's you have a house and if you're lucky a strip of grass out the back and maybe a 10m2 garden along the back fence somewhere... It's actually sad.
