I thought judges could approve whether you're eligible for E-plates (even though they made e-plates redundant)?? Just not in cases for drink drivers..

To my knowledge of this situation you can apply for an extraordinary licence no less than 21 days after the commencement of the disqualification period.

double or nothing "option" only applies to loss of licence due to demerit points NOT loss of licence due to reckless driving.

sadly any speeding offence exceeding the speedlimit by 45km/h or more is considered to be reckless driving.

reckless driving is apparantly a mandatory minimum 6 months disqualification for the first offence, and usually a minimum of 12 months for the second offence.

My brother got done for drink driving & had to wait some time but I cant remember how long. He got E plates because he is self employed mobile mechanic/AC & it was the sole income for his family if that helps.

ok i just went through all of this

you must wait 21 days from the time you go to court and lose your license
the sentence is anything between 6-9 months and $0-$2000

after the 21 days go online to the magistrates court website and print out the E class application form
fill it out and take it to the magistrates court, where you will have to fill out more forms, pay $150 and get another court date booked

then go to court, they will ask you questions about your job and your weekly debts and shit
make sure you tell them that if you dont get your E license you will lose your job!
squid and huggy_b like this.
