so what do u call good food?
I dont need to lose alot of weight, im 94.5 kg @ 190cm tall right now, and id like to lose 4-5 kg of fat. Obviously with weight training, id expect it to kind of even out once i start building some muscle again
When u train cardio, how long do you walk/run for?

Here are some general tips.

- Drink shitloads of water.
- Get as much sleep as you can.
- Eat smaller, more frequent meals.

As for diet, its not hard...just cut out excessive and unneccessary fats, and balance your carbs and protein.
does cordial count ?

Cordial counts...as long as its mostly water!!

I'm 102.5kg and 187cm, with about 20kg of that being fat. By the end of this year I want to be about 90kg, with about 8kg of fat.

As you can see, its not putting too much muscle on but I'll be maintaining it, and with less body fat I'll look heaps more ripped, and therefore look heaps bigger. Thats at the least, and any extra muscle will be a bonus

Weight training is actually one of the best forms of burning fat....by doing weights and cardio at the same time, you can expect to lose fat whilst maintaining muscle.

Doing lots and lots of cardio alone without weight training, means your body will cannibalise its own muscle, because your body likes to burn muscle before it burns fat.

Normally you'd want to do about 30-45 mins of cardio in a session, but you'd work up to that of course. The important thing is maintaining your heart rate. You want to start at about 60% of your max heart rate, then move your way up. Up to about 70-75% of your max heart rate is optimum for burning fat.

To calculate your max heart rate, its 220 minus your age.

I.e. 220 minus 20 = 200, then you take the percentages from that. Build up your MHR level before you raise the time done.

E.G.

First week - 20 mins at 60% MHR
Second week - 20 mins at 65% MHR
Third week - 20 mins at 70% MHR
Fourth week - 30 mins at 70% MHR
So on and so on...

JUST an example, of course only do what your body lets you. Dont push yourself too hard if your unfit for the first few weeks, cos you'll make yourself sick and it'll put you off training.

crikey... you boys are so organised !! I just go to the gym and do whatever I feel like on the day.. !

Generally will do 50minutes ish of cardio 2-3 days a week... and then maybe 2 days a week ( i dont go 5 days a week.. it just all varies depending on when i get there).... when I do weights.. Ill do half an hour of cardio first to warm up muschles ! Then kinda just jump onto any machine I think I can operate without looking stupid.... (some of them look a bit tricky) ..

Im kinda getting the hang of it now though and feeling much better.... (and you should see my guns ! phoar!!!)

like joe said dont go to hard too quick.

i always do minium of 10mins cardio (usually cycling) before i start wieghts (gets my blood flowing), once or twice a week i walk laps in the pool after wieghts. i only run a couple of times a week at the moment, just a comfortable pace for as long as a feel like.

also another important note that hasnt been covered, make sure you stretch properly before doing anything!! either cardio or weights, last thing you wanna do is tear a muscle, coz then your on the sidelines for a while and missing out on all that training you coulda been doin!
