Ian is a little bit modest... the car is an ex-paris to dakar rally car with a few horseys under its belt. They are running this season to test the car out and gauge where it is and then go do the national circuit next year.

The car costs pretty much more than a house in our lower suburbs hehe.

ok well the pajero was built by a race team in america and raced in the baja 500, the driver from that race from what i understand is the owner of Mitsubishi cameras,

The car is a Mitsubishi Pajero well sort of hahah based on one. It has a built 3.5L mitsubishi V6 with a Built C4 auto gear box and 4wd, the body is pajero Center with a powdercoat black chassis and roll cage also fibreglass front fenders and bonnet, steel and gutted rear half with big cut outs and no tail gate and a 120L fuel tank with breather.

The car has Fox adjustable shocks and springs for racing. The cooling has the front fan and another fan at the back with switches to turn off and on, also theres i think another two more coolers . The interior is 2 sparco Black fix back seats, sparco race harness, theres a pipe with a fan that blows cool air into the helmets to keep the face cool while racing and also a intercom system so i can talk to driver on the car and i watch the gauges to make sure everything is OK

Btw thers no windows in the car so it gets bloody cold hahahah

More pictures to come soon and theres more to the car but yeah hard to remember everything and theres another race coming up soon 13th-14th august in Mogumber

Cheers
Ian

For those who like to play in the mud, check out team Bodgtech and what they plan for a mud run, instead of mud guts and glory this year.

Hey Pimpreza...

I'm bit L8 on the post.. but looks as if you need some better tyres to do the beach carving with...

205/65 R15 Pirelli's raly tyres might help...

I have a few if any1 wants cheap blocks to carve or bigger holes to dig...

Cheers

Yeah I spoke to Dean & Rob Herridge about using them off road, useless in sand-which is the cars main playground but great everywhere else, so was going to get a set but ran out of time before this trip I'm on came up to do anything about it, chunky tread tends to dig holes rather than float over the sand so in fact bald is better............well street tyres lol, but thanks for the offer & I'll probably take you up on it when I get back, I even had a set of 15" rims lined up & the 205/65/15 is virtually identical to the 205/60/16's I'm running so plenty of spares either way.

Default float no dig..

Ahh.. yeah.. good point... floating on the sand would be better, than digging in to it...

I have scrubbed down tyres as well used for the busselton stage at the forest rally... the only advantage vs the road tyres is a stronger side walls... run lower pressures??!?

Good 2 see all the piccys of 4wd drives being used, hard 'n' offroad.

Cheers

Wink

With the aggressive tyres, thats true up to a point. I run Cooper STTs, which is as you know is a mud tyre, not the most aggressive, but it is a muddie. On the sand, I've had no issues, (Yagerup dunes, Calcup hill etc) in summer.

I've found its more important to let the tyres down to lengthen the tyre foot print to run in sand, and its not like a 105 series Landcruiser with a 1HZ makes up for the tyres "digging in" from vast amounts of power.

The tyre may make a difference if your running a rally stage and seconds count, most 4WDing seconds don't, as it can take hours to recover a vehicle if you get it wrong.
