that's a fair call, i would have thought any workshop would do this, irrespective of whether it is ecutek or verso
you do a before run and check AFRs, and once that's ok, and the tuner is happy, then they tune the car and if DURING the tune the car breaks, then i can't see how a workshop is not responsible for that.
can of worms!

it would be difficult to proof once the car rolls out of the workshop though that the tune was directly responsible for any damage as owner could be adding stuff (mod wise) to the car and not wanting or knowing that the mod could change the physics/dynamics of the tune
Think you will find that is not quite correct.
It is usually an "All care but no responsibility" thing and if you are on a Dyno Dynamics dyno you will be signing a disclaimer stating that.

The workshop has no knowledge of the bearing condition, oil quality, fuel quality, age of engine, condition of pistons etc etc etc so why would they have to pay if it pops?
If all workshops were liable for the problems associated with stretching the envelope of engine safety ( which is exactly what a tune is ) then there wouldn't be much power tuning done.

Cheers
Ken

I imagine if the workshop doing the tuning was also resposible for ALL of the mods done to a customers car and know the history of the vehicle especially if its been to them since new....then, one would hope the workshop would be almost fully liable for a popped engine during dynoing or even normal use.....
So the reverse - if you get mods done here and there and then go in to another workshop for a tune, they really would/should have only limited responsibility but still one should expect that "all care taken" still applies.

This may be a silly question but when the car is Verso tuned by ASG, do you have to go back there every 10,000km for the standard tune up and service or can any mechinic then just do a tune up?

Incorrect.

Any mechanic can do the regular servicing. What do you mean by a tune up tho? ASG will do the VERSO tune and you drive away with a new tune to the standard ecu. If you do more mods it will need to be retuned by them.

A 'tune up' these days is just a service to the car (i.e. oil, air filters, spark plugs what not). Nothing is done to the ECU changing the engine tune.

So anyone who can change oil can work on your car for your servicing.

True....I see your point.......you would hope that anyone who's saved their hard earned to buy and mod their car would treat it with a little more respect than that but you do make a good point.....yeah, how's the workshop supposed to know what events lead up to a popped engine
