How do those big funny looking stinger cable lugs crimp on?

You'll hate them. Grub screws. That's why I used the ferrules over the wire so it crushes down on that as opposed to breaking the wire strands.
Everything I'm doing/have done has been run past a guy by the name of Marty Price who owns and runs FHRX Studios in Sydney. One of the most highly regarded installers in Australia. Whilst he uses lugs himself 90% of the time, he said he has used the big clunky Stinger terminals in the past without any problems. He just said to periodically check the tightness of the grub screw and use the ferrules so you're not breaking the strands and weakening the connection. Very easily switched to lugs if any problems were to arise but Marty reckons it'll be fine.

Ok. Yeah the ferruls will improve things alot of bared back wire squashed in a grub screw. But i reckon you will get a much more better'er (technical term) connection with a decent crimping tool. Manual ones get the job done, but the hydraulic or electric over hydraulic do it the best.

Techflex braid looks neat. Ive been using it alot lately and quite like it for certain applications. I normaly use nylon conduit. But its big and bulky. The PET plastic used in the low grades of techflex isnt quite as good as PA6 nylon. But it works well and looks very neat.

Yeh it's great stuff. It does make the cable a bit stiffer and harder to work with but looks shmick. Melting temperature is 250 degrees apparently so figured it was safe to use under the engine bay. Gets tricky with the fraying though, even if you singe the ends.
I bought a cheap Chinese hydraulic crimper (those yellow things) for under 40 bucks for the installation. Have used it successfully for the chassis ground lugs so far.

250° Fahrenheit. Which is about 120° science. Either way, It won't melt in your engine bay unless maybe very close to the exhaust or turbine.
In engine bays or in situations where i expect excessive vibrations / mechanical wear, i use non-split PA6 nylon conduit. In areas where i need flexibility or alot branchs from harness i use the techflex.
