Hmmmm, which is riskier, new jinyus or rcomps that last 7 laps and no brakes.

Rcomps were on for the entire last race meet, so a bit more than 7 laps...

But thanks, the rcomps also delaminated as it was rolling onto the shoulder after the rear camber bolt was not done up correctly after alignment was performed.

Edit. Brake pads should have lasted longer but now looking at harsher pads that will last longer

How long they lasted before has got nothing to do with it, how shit they are when you go out to use them has, as in they must have been looking pretty tired to be delaminating after 7 laps.
I'm only assuming the brake pads ran out as in the didn't have any meat left on them, but like you I haven't looked at them so it could be a wild claim, just like Jinyu tyres suddenly spearing someone off in to a wall.
Thanks.

The edges have worn away to expose the belt on the outer edge of the tyre.
I wouldn't call it complete delamination... Far from it. But I do see where your coming from.

Out of interest Burke, what pads did the Foz have when you were running that?

Hawk DTC-70.

Still using them in the WRX, do like 'em.

This guy has always been good to deal with, and cheap.

Thanks for your comments Burke, wasnt meaning to be harsh to Cat, was more trying to voice my opinions on her choice of tyre... Wasn't trying to start anything

Race meet on Sunday and all went well for myself (sort of)

Qualifying

Went out and ready to give it a good o and after warm up lap went round the esses and my exhaust hanger broke and pushed the rubber mounts off the rest and was draggoing along the ground. Limped it back to the garage and was fixing it when we heard a bang and red flag called. Ryan in Nukem truned around coming down the hill and into the wall at about 200km/h. he's ok, taken to hospital but the car is messy...

Race 1

So i didnt have a time due to the exhaust and red flag so started 31st on the grid (combined IP and street car grids)

Light went, got through 5 back markers before turn 1 and 8 total by the end of lap 1. Kept oing for 8 laps and ended up overtaking 14 people to have a respectable 15th...

Race 2

So reverse grid so moved to 11th. Start was pretty hectic and managed to overtake alot of the slower cars only to be overtaken by the faster cars during the 12 laps. Had a few DNF's aswell so ended up 10th!

Race 3

Combination of points so was 12th and ended up 10th to finish..

finished all 3 races and ended up 7th overall for the day! pretty happy...

The good:

1. Tyres - Actually got the pressures right so they were wearing correctly and they performed great!
2. Finishing all 3 races - the car is very reliable after radiator swap and oil cooler purchase
3. Im getting comforatble with driving with other people

The bad:
1. The diff's... open rear diff and a centre diff that cant handle anything makes for a very frustrating time around the circuit. Catching people on the straights after it catches up and under braking only for them to pull away after the corner because i cant put any power down was very frustrating...

From this though, a friend has lent me his 6 speed gearbox and have sourced a gen 1 VLSD to test out... wish us luck!

haha, I know that you weren't trying to be harsh but coming from a guy who's first 50 odd laps around Barbs was in an essentially stock boat like XT Forester on all terrain tyres, it doesn't matter what you're driving as long as its done smart.

Congrats on getting in to the door to door stuff, definitely a great reward for your efforts.
