I would only do Pistons, bearings and standard ish size head studs.

Should be around $5-6 for that I should imagine. Max

I just got quoted $6.5k LABOUR, on a bottom end ONLY rebuild. Even more again to remove/refit the donk back in...

Holy fuck just for labour? So parts and machining on top?
Let's say $100 an hour that's 65 hours to build a short motor.
Wow I'm in the wrong game.

Nic put on a carton of piss and im sure we can russle up enough people, tools etc, to remove the donk and strip it down to a short block for the rebuild.

Yep that quote hurt my eyes. I didn't even mention that one to my wife.

They want $12.5k for a bottom end 'only' rebuild, basic forged blocked, no sleeves or anything fancy just the basics.

And no head work included either...

I plan to speak to Galloway's, Maximums & Mick at Japline today and I'm waiting on a quote from Dan at Tokyo's.

From my very recent experience a rebore hone, block reface and a head skim is about $1100 from Galloway's. I can't recommend these guys enough their machining work is the best I've seen anywhere.

Price wise for the rest. My guess is the following:
New Crank $600 from Carmods (cheapest ive seen anywhere)
Pistons $800-900 delivered to your door (wisecos)
Rods $850 delivered (Argo)
Bearings $300-400
Gasket and seal set $600
Timing belt kit with water pump $600

Then you're looking at labour for a full engine assembly including dissambling the heads and reseating/grinding valves I'd suggest around 30 hours which will include a couple of dry assemblies for measurements etc.

Obviously its only an estimate but that's roughly how long it takes me to do them.

Hope that helps.

Another option is buy rebuild short block from diversion garage from queensland. Mine had manley 99.75 pistion with friction layer, manley rods, acl bearing, arp2000 studs, subaru gasket kit and cosworth hg along with all the machine work for 4525. But u need to ship your old block to him as an exchange.
