^^Haha escalation bro!

I think it was you who originally told me to go cdb with Rising Sun hey!

The thought of putting a stock block in with pistons & studs and hoping it doesn't let go at 1.5 bar was too much for me.

Through this process I kept on hearing people say we can build you a kick arse motor for X amount of $$. Then when I said I want to push the power up a bit, a lot of people were saying oh your bores are going to be rattling with those numbers on e85. I would ask do I need to pin the bores or go cdb. The response would be no, but your bores are going to cop a hiding...

I am not having a dig at anyone. Everyone I have spoken to over the last few weeks has been very helpful. I think for the way I am going to use the car and the fact I am keeping it long term and need it to be reliable, this is the way to go.

It's been an interesting experience talking to all the different builders over the past couple of weeks. I have learned a lot. Everyone has different views on what makes a strong reliable block and to be honest most of the quotes were pretty similar.

I would say Neil Herbert at the Engine Shop was probably the most competitive, but no tune included.

Galloways would have been good too but they require the long block naked and delivered to them & no one wants my car sitting in their workshop for two to three weeks while Galloways build it, understandably.

Doing it this way I am getting a stronger block and a new clutch for the same money.

Diversion Garage has competitive pricing! Combos look ver similar to Rising Sun Subaru which is a good thing

Yep no surprises there, they are direct competitors, and spoke highly of each other too. Chris's prices on all the extras was impossible to match by anyone, except RSS.

I guess the difference between the two is Diversion is a one man operation, he builds all the engines by himself. Probably why he is so competitive in pricing.

For anyone interested all of the extras are supplied by Diversion besides the clutch. He is an authorised RCM distributor.

Actually interested to see if the closed deck insert effects the way the engine gets rid of heat on the track when its being flogged. Solid build though, time to upgrade to a 2.5xtr.

Discussed that with Chris, he said the inserts are only supporting the top section of the bore the way the oem ones do. The coolant channels they put in allow for plenty of flow but only time will tell mate.

Plenty of cdb floating about in Perth. Neil Herberts is closed on his race car with no issues.

No more turbos for a while please. Planning on flex tuning this time, e85 sucks the fat one in winter.
