Speaking for yourself there Tony? ... I've been in cars that have had a 1.5xtr on 8cm and 2.5xtr on 10cm... know exactly what I'm saying.
Fyi Steve's is a 2.5xtr on 8cm... but its not just the turbo that makes his car fast

Lol you have to have very very deep pockets for headwork... that is what usually blows the budget in the build...look at around 5-6k for this with cams etc

Standard 06 WRX single heads and cams will flow circa 600bhp(flywheel) before they start to choke. I dare say the dual AVCS heads will be the same

It's half that as I've just priced it up for mine.
Cosworth Cams $1200
Supertech valves, double springs and titanium retainers you'll get change from $1000, just.
I wouldn't bother with porting unless you're wanting every last bit of power. It's not so crucial on forced induction. It does improve things slightly but not enough to notice in a road car.

As mentioned in my previous post I ran standard 2006 single AVCS WRX (not STI) heads in my 2 door GC8. The heads were standard as were the cams. I just changed the valves and springs. That made 600bhp before it started to choke. It was plenty quick enough.

Yeah porting and polishing is time consuming that's for sure. I didn't even think about labour.

I also didn't factor in the cost of correct size valve lifters too. So you're not far off I guess.

Just goes to show the cost savings to be had by doing things yourself.

I wish I had a mate like you who had the free time to do another engine build while halfway through his own

There's only one way I'm going to build engines for people.
They have the machining work I specify done and they use the parts I recommend. If they wont do that then some fucker else can build it
