Pegged P20 - 98' GC8
I have done some datalogging and sucked out the existing 1.3bar (19psi) custom tune. Using a stock AFM and airflow set to Power under settings 3 (calibration the tuner used is the same as the EJ20k v7.2 base map) the stock P20 (17356) load line is pegged...i.e. load goes beyond P20.
The X asis also goes to 8400rpm, and I will probably rescale this as the driver won't ever see this RPM. In regards to the pegged load, can anyone provide some insight on their chosen method to rectify this. The tune was pig rich everywhere and is well safe at full noise. Thanks in advance. |

You need to recalculate your load axis ( if we're talking power fc).
I run no lower than p17 on 1.5 bar with a vf34/p18. Email me your map & I'll have a look at it tonight. List your mods in the email too please. Basically you need to rescale the maf curve, maybe one maf voltage point is corrupted and causing it to drop off the map?

Thanks bud.
Everything is seriously the same as the EJ20k v7.2 base map bar timing advance changes, injector scaling/latency etc (has bigger squirters) and the injector correction map. Yeah it's an FC. The owner is a member here so if he wishes to discuss it he can. Rescaling the axis to read more load is easy enough and it should have been done already, but does anyone tune via the airflow curve? edit..spelling! |

Here's a log of a cruise, not much WOT but you can see the issue. I've quickly touched up the cruise afr's to reflect my desired afr as I don't want to foul the plugs...given they're a pain to change.

You need to tune the power fc by scaling both the Maf voltages & the injector correction map.
You cannot tune by rescaling the maf voltatges/airflow alone.....It's not an SAFC after all. The base maps are just that - a base to build your tune on. That map of yours is rich everywhere. Here's how deep mine goes into the map on 1.5 bar: It max's on the P17 load line. Here's my Target AFR map: Here's my logged AFR's: (Peaking 1.65 bar & rich 10.6 up top) Send me a log Please Brendan! What Maf is on it?? Your low load (over run) should drop back to the lowest load cells like in my logs. Your idle load should drop into P2/P3.....

Epiphany!!
Now I've had a little time to mull over your map.....and work out why your log never returns to P1 & entirely skips the P2 & P3 load points...... You have raised the MAF output in the first 7 MAF cells way too high.... Specificlly points 2 & 3, which are artificially pushing your entire map DOWN to false higher loads. You have: 0,12,18,25,40,57,83 in the first 7 cells of the 36 point MAF scale for "airflow2" on settings 3. ALL my maps are: 0, 0, 0, 1, 2, 8,23. This is your log: The log should show low load (idle) sitting in cells P2 & P3, N1 & N2. It should show gear changes & over-run dropping to P1 (0) as in my logs in my previous post. Note: The MAF output will NEVER run below 1.12 volts with the engine running. Maf output voltages between 1.280 & 1.440 is where it should sit with the engine at idle (both my stock 207 & my built/cammed 207 sit @ 1.32V at idle with no electrical loads)....Idle will float around P2 & P3. Everything below that is irrelevant BUT the first three cells that MUST be zero (0) ! HTH & let me know how you get on!

Legend! It does indeed drop to P1 on decel. I had deleted the data in the first 3 load lines as it was corrupted by the usual street tuning conditions. Sorry for throwing you off course. It idles in P2, P3. That log and the tune was the 'custom' tune by a reputable workshop. I have since tuned the cruise points so it sits on 14.7. Having said that it's happy to cruise and idle leaner. I have to deal with pegged MAP sensors in the late model fords as we can't re-scale the sensor calibration in aftermarket software. It's far from ideal and will avoid it here if I can! The maf voltages vs airflow seems similar to the maf transfer function in the US fords so shouldn't be hard to work out. Thanks heaps Rossco I'll no doubt need some more help soon!
