I don't think people aren't saying to not DIY.

What they are saying is paying $300 for someone to do it is quite cheap for the labour time and getting it applied correctly. Those that have DIY'ed wish they had a pro do it.

If you are keen and do DIY, I would appreciate a write up on doing it. Keen for a matte white dak dak

Yeh i know what they are saying, i just couldnt miss that oppurtunity haha. Ive read the matte white vinyl is extremely hard to clean and stains very easy. Matte grey/silver looks very nice.

Steve, which part did you striggle with. Getting it down initially with limited amounts of bubbles? Or trying to get the bubbles put afterwards?

Pulling seals out around windscreen and roof rails, pulling antenna off, putting it down straight with no bubbles, getting kinks out along top of windscreen, huge bubbles formed in the middle, melted vinyl by being an impatient ping, ripped it off packed up, wasted $90 of vinyl started drinking. $300 is Farrrk all, just try removing your roof lining to get to antenna.

Luckly i dont have an antenna on tge roof to deal with. Just the panel seals and lifting the window seal enough to hide the vinyl under. This 3M stuff doesnt stick till you apply pressure so im thinking this may help in reducing the buddles.

Applying any large, sticky sheet to anything is a prick of a job. I'd chance it and say that even the low mass of the sheet will still put enough pressure down on your lid to become sticky, thus making bubbles appear anyway. I tried stickering my race car one afternoon, realised just how shit it was, and got someone in to do it in the end.

There is no questioning that you could do it yourself, but considering that this will be a rather large and obvious talking point of the car, if you want it to look professional, pay someone with the skill set. Especially at such a small price.

My mate is a tech trainer for installers of this sort of stuff and yeah, I have asked him about getting me some wrap at mates rates for a project idea that I would do myself (and I have a good eye for detail) and I think he couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes . . .

Basically a quote from somewhere that does it professionally is upwards of the 300dollar mark unless you are servicing the installer in some form, or maybe your just friends with him. All of the above options are not for me, i dont want to pay 300+buks, service a man and i dont have friends.
