Seriously, you're asking a question that cannot be answered. The only way you can have that question answered is by listening to both speakers being fed 60 watts on a demo board, then listen to them both again being fed 100 watts, or 150 watts.

Both speakers have a sensitivity of 88dB, so theoretically they're going to play as loud as each other. Which one distorts first is anyone's guess and based on (again, I've stated this) far too many variables.

Along with watts, I think you should forget about distortion too
Just give yourself a budget and makes sure you get your front doors dynamatted and the speakers installed in secure MDF baffles. This will ensure your speakers sound their best.

JBL make good value for money amps, however they're fucking huge. If you want something that can be hidden away from site under your front seat, go with Alpine or Hertz. They've got a far smaller footprint.

Okay thanks, that does help a lot Still going to be a hard choice as to what to get, budget seems to over rule quite a lot, but i think i will try to aim for Type R's up front.
Will keep looking for Amps that can power them well, and try to make room for the alpine PDX F4 or F6 if i can

Now that i think about it, are the WRX's double DIN? There looks to be 2 slots, my single head unit and a space above it? Are MDF Baffles just like spacers?
Dynamat, does that make a big difference? appears to be about $200 for 2 doors worth :P

I have no idea in regards to an 04 WRX being double din. Someone with that model will need to comment there. There are surrounds available that house a single din unit and pocket underneath or on top. That's what I have.

MDF baffle, spacer, same/same. Dynamat makes a HUGE difference, especially to mid-bass output. You want to deaden the door skin and then cover all the service holes on the outer skin. Sticking a bead of PVA glue or sikaflex etc. around where the spacer meets the door is a good idea too in order to get the area behind the speaker as air-tight as possible.

Yup if you go single din on an 04 you can buy a pocket to fit in the empty space.

Sweet, There is a spacer above the head unit at the moment, so must be double din

Dynamat sounds good Average pricing?

Thanks for the spacer advice, especially with the glue, sounds like a pretty good idea in order to get better sound. Is it to stop outside noise? or more to get less vibration within the door and get the sound frequencies as perfect as possible?

Dynamat 10455 Xtreme Bulk Pack for just under $200 shipped to your door.

Kit contains nine 18" x 32" pieces of Dynamat Xtreme for rear decks, doors, floors and trunk floors.
Might want to get a roller as well, should be able to pick one up from the local hard ware store or get one online like this.

Nope, just to get the space within the door itself as airtight as possible so that the woofer performs as well as it can. It's very hard to get a door completely sealed, but every effort to do so helps.
