To be fair, prefab sealed enclosures are a little more forgiving since most of them are made in a 0.9, 1.0, 1.1, 1.25, etc volume. At least then it's fairly easy to find a sub that suits a particular sealed volume. Though backwards shopping, it's not a bad option for audio n00bs
