0.82 A/R sounds a little more user friendly!! Although, I don't know about track work... maybe more suitable for drags??

I remember an old school T51-R on a Supra (around 1.02 A/R by memory) and although making some impressive power figures on a piece of paper, was a complete slug round Wanneroo!!

... with some anti-lag/ launch control and beefed up drivetrain it apparently ran an agressive quarter mile in the end though.
Food for thought?

sorry to break the news to ya big fella, but everything we are doing has been done before, with varying degress of success but mostly heartbreak!

the original don, mario torborac's [WRX-350] JUN 2.2 APEXi/IHI RX77 Turbo MoTeC. on the giggle gas made 385kws at the wheels, lasted? a few dyno runs!! timeline is the real impressive thing here, 2001! 7 years later we are all still playing catch-up and one by one finding out why he shifted all his attention to a GTR, because, sadly power in a wrx is like a bogan without a mullet, u see them once in a while, but u know they just went bald over the years!

alas, power to you tino, keep combing that mullet brother!

hahaha ramon, very nice analogies...

my goal is to hit a 10 sec, so this setup that ive built up should achieve goal number 1..

Second goal is to be quick around wanneroo.. not mcs but a real track. Now who knows how responsive this car is going to be, and without any real life experience i.e ppl from australia using this turbo who knows how it will turn out.. Yes on paper it looks like its going to fail but hey theres no harm in trying... the turbo will be more accomodatin on a lower A/R, but hey since ive got the big A/R im gonna try it out...

so all u haters........ just wait and see before u hate and give me some love... hahahah

Should be an animal once its on full boost.......

Even if its only for drag use thats a Monster turbo.

Add Gas and you should crack a niner me thinks..

I don't know about me qualifying as a 'hater', it's your money bro and more power to ya if you wish to be an experimental philanthropist etc! But at this stage it would be sensable to both get some real experience of driving a fairly regular car on tracks such as Wanners to understand what is actually required (rather than what you 'think' will be required) as well as talk to those who race there regularly with reasonably good results and reliable engines etc.

All I'm suggesting is that Drags are a completely different thing to Circuit. Sheer power is useless if it is not useable, delayed by lag and cannot get to the wheels well enough on the circuit. You need immediate and useable power and beefy torque to pull you out of the corners, even if it is a larger more undulating track than MC.

Some examples:
My friend with a ~400Hp Skyline GTS-t (Big laggy T04E with gate etc) running R-rubber and fairly decent suspension setup could only manage a 64sec run on Wanneroo long track... that same day I was driving my RS with street tyres, 250,000km+ on the old tired engine and no extra power mods aside from Exhaust/ intake and was pulling consistant 62's...

While instructing at a John Bowe day last year, a driver of a 500kw FPV with lowered suspension and stock brakes was only managing similar times of 64's (by memory). However I use this example because the real issue was the excessive power (Yes, you can have too much!) This thing browned everyone's undies because it was intially laggy and once coming on boost was simply annoying to control and keep on the track! Even in 3rd, 4th gear it was frying tyres out of Kolbe corner!!
Yes, Gran Tourismo racecars put out that kind of power... but they also have a purpose built chassis, drivetrain and braking system to utilise this.

More food for thought if you are aiming at a circuit car...?
