Bumping old thread!
My understanding is you can ran avcs heads even if your not going to have avcs set up correct? Will be going on forged 2.2 my99 What will best heads be id rather go shimless to save hassels later on and so can rev out harder

I believe you can use the avcs heads without running the avcs system. They can be blocked off at the oil lines IIRC. I'd say later model sti heads would be suitable. I remember using v6 sti heads on the wagon way back when. They were bucket over shim which didn't seem to be consistent at high rpm i.e. 9k+ GD's have the single shimmed bucket, less moving parts in the heads is always a better option.
So whats the plan Joey?

Sweet more worried about it dropping a shim than anything at high boost and revs.
Not sure what set up im going to go jme prob td06-20g or 3071 if i decide to go all out

They stay 100 percent connected and the cam seals/wheels need to be swapped out to eliminate the avcs. |
