But he can sit there listening to it, as soon as he hears it ping he can fine tune it again, straight away, nobody is going to have a 450hp stock 207, tune it once every 6 months and hope it lasts.

Fair enough, I guess its not my money.
There are alot of very reliable 400+ hp 207's around. If your chasing 450-500hp, you really would be wanting to be carrying out routine maintenance and tuning with the cosworth. Especially since you would be putting some regular, hard kms on it.

Just out of interest, what does a built, fitted and tuned 2.5 cosworth motor cost?
I'd also be interested to know what turbo's you plan to run or are running (quinner?) and what power/torque you are getting.. or want.

Unsure what he has done with his heads, but mine are getting alot of work done, ill also be taking lag cutting measures such as reverse manifold and v mount intercooler. He is making over 400hp atw, check his build thread for exact mods and power/tourqe. Im chasing 400 hp atw and as much torque as the 2.2 will give mms just fitted and tuned a 2.5 cosworth long motor, made alot of power, have a chat to steve about it and check their websites for pricing. I think it was around 25k lande + labour boltons etc. its a no fuss solution, but id rather pick and choose my bits, its half the fun.

Sweet cheers for that. One day when I get motivated, or have the cash I'm chasing 400hp at the hubs with my car, the only internal mods ill be considering are cams and maybe some head work if its needed. Will need a fmic and bigger turbo, would a hks 3037 or td06 25g do the trick? (Anyone remember heins car Haha).. Jamie, what did you get when you de-tuned the wagon with your 25g?
Cams and head work plus labour $5000? Turbo kit and fmic fitted $8000? Tuning $ 1000? $14,000 for 100hp more than I have, its hard to justify but it would be a fun drive...

The thing is, when doing the build i never wanted to half arse do anything. what's the point? your only gunna blow it up, have to strip it and build it properly the second time. IMO Your always goin to want more horsepower so find out what your aim is and build your car around that. Aim a little bit higher even so you can run your desired power safer

Its just so much money, I spent nearly 60k modding my 01 wrx, when I got the 05 sti I spent 16k on it and did all the modding in one hit. Even then, it still runs a standard tmic! :-)
So you have a GT35 and a 2.5? What boost are you running and what do you rev it to?
