I've got Magnatec in mine but it seems that's a no-no aye. What's so bad about it?

As long as you meet the minimum specs of 10W-30W (in WA) and use a good quality oil and replace it and oil filters on a regular basis any oil will be acceptable. Mineral oil , meh, semi syn better, fully syn the best (in my mind).

No major brand is going to be an issue - just remember to change and check your oil on a regular basis.

Not my opinion, its what Subaru sell for their engines.
Did you read mine? I didn't say anything about your opinion or say genuine isn't relabeled magnatec. I just stated my opinion that I'd prefer to stay away from magnatec when there's other options. Just repeating myself :P

simple tip- if unsure on what to fit/use on any car to use genuine, is the way to go for piece of mind, unless its a modded part of your vehicle.

I use and recommend Black and Gold 20w/50. Pours like honey, protects like nougat.

Surprisingly a great no calorie replacement for sugar in coffee if you ever run out.

Brent, are you breathing in and out at the moment.

Any actual info/links as to why magnatec is so bad?

(I'd personally run whatever oil grade is recommeneded in your owner's manual or by you engine builder / mechanic).
