The car has done one thing pretty consistently up until now. Blow up and have expensive rebuilds. Hey if thats what you call reliable, then so be it. I guess we are done here.

You can turn an unreliable car into a reliable one by removing and replacing the unreliable parts with ones that aren't so, and if, over the course of time it doesn't fail, then it has proven itself reliable. I used to have a very unreliable car every time it rained, but once the leaky windshield was refitted and sealed correctly water no longer seeped into the ecu and now 7 years on, it's never been an issue. Unreliable part found, replaced by reliable one, and thus, reliable car.

Same goes for Daz's beast. Unreliable parts have been repaired and replaced, 30,000km later it's still running as it was when fitted, so seems pretty reliable to me.

No but for some reason you're just not getting it and being a clever cunt in the process.
You crack on mate.

Meanwhile I've just put some more miles on my "unreliable" 600hp engine that's done 30,000kms.

Exactly but for some reason this is beyond Bram.

So far so good. But its 30,000 kms. Its a good start, but its just that, its a start.

Do OEMs warrant thier cars for 30,000? Its not uncommon for 3-5yr unlimited KM warranties these days. Id call that reliable.

I shouldnt be too harsh. I guess its all relative. After the cars history. 30,000 must seam like a lifetime. You gotta be happy with that.

Best part I liked about the latest 30k engine Daz put together is how it purs, that in its self was nice to hear and it's instantly a good indication of a engine put together properly. No rattling and shit noises going on which make you scratch your head.

I take my hat off to Daz as he can build a fucking cracker of a engine. From where it was and how it's all developed it's good to hear it gets used other than sitting around. It's a dedicated road car with a shit load of power.

Now take a rest you two
Top-Deck and ZiN like this.

Pretty pointless mentioning oem engines and their new car warranties when they are running 15 pounds of conservative boost and 220kw.

Comparing that to an engine that is producing over 110kw per cylinder on nearly double the boost and triple the fuel....

No. Its entirely relavent. If you go back to my original statement back in Jacobs thread where i mentioned the relationship between, economy, performance and reliability. (The comment that set this whole retarded thing rolling) Then you will see exactly how relavent it is.

OEMs dont make 600hp 4 cylinders not because they cant, the ones involved in motorsport are perfectly capable of doing it. The reason (among others) they dont do it is because they know it is either going to be unreliable, or un-ecomonical.

If we are having a discussion about reliability, then it is entirely reasonable to compare reliability to a known and well established metric like warrantie periods on new cars. If a car doesnt meet its manufactures warranty, then you could say that car is not reliably. But when i say a car (dazs car) hasnt yet met any equivelant new car warranty period, you say its irrelevant.
