Default Analogue Guages

Next release will include:

Not brilliant but a good start.

Next release will, supposedly, auto choose the connecting protocol as well.

^ Interesting. I'm not sure how functional the gauges will be but you're right, it's definitely a start.

Are we able to get the unit to boot up automatically with engine start-up yet?

4) the suction attachment to the window is of poor quality and melts in the hot WA sun. You will most likely need to buy a 3rd party attachment and more durable one to replace it.
I removed the OBD port from the dash (it pops out) and I hooked up the data scan cable underneath the steering column. It's completely hidden away and never unplugs.

I also placed the unit between the the steering column and the dials on the dash so as to get rid of the suction mount and have the unit in the middle of the dash while still being able to see the standard gauges. I can post a pic later if you want.

I'm just happy I'll finally get a boost guage NOT a boost number or graph.

Considering that the datascan start-up is a hardwired button - I don't think we'll ever get start-up on key start.

I can honestly say that this little tool has been worth the price I paid for it...these upgrades to the software are just a bonus.

Hi all,
I'm the guy who's developing the ECUDatascan software, saw this thread pop up on Google Analytics.

What would you consider brilliant?

Auto-detecting of the protocol will only be for generic OBD-II protocols, to use Subaru Select you need to choose it manually.

The only way that could work is to have the ECUDatascan ping the ECU every second or so until it responds. Once that's done it can then resume itself.

Problem with that is that it would flatten your battery after a couple days (if not sooner).

What features do you think should be added to make it more functional?

Welcome,

Something that mimics / looks like the new Lexus LFA dash would be "brilliant".

Multiple gauge skins.

The ability to edit gauge names.

The ability to run a different IGO GPS software than the one version I can get to run.

Regardless of the above wishes, like Dave, I think it's a great unit and I'm glad I purchased it.

Multiple gauge skins - the architecture of the software is quite flexible. Skinning the analogue gauges is entirely possible. Just need some more skinds made up!

LFA dash - as above, if someone can make up the graphics, I can implement the code behind it.

Edit gauge names - will definitely be in the build after this one.

IGO - send me a link of the IGO s/w you want to run with it, and I'll test it.

Saw these in an issue of Tarmac recently. They did a good review on it and included and Australian web page http://www.ecudatascan.com.au/home.html

Yes I know most people would have googled it and found it, but I clicked on Daves link at the start. The "Aussie" one is $549 including deliver by express post.

I know it was reviewed Race mag a while ago, must be the same article. (Can you send a scan or photo of it?)

BTW I've spoken to my counterpart who's responsible for the cables and there may be some useful circuitry in there we could make use of to get some sort of wake up on engine start going.
