MotoMan has been around for years.

Michael South had this to say recently on Rexnet:

I use xhp for 1500km and change oil and filter and run mobil S.

The important part is loading it up when it is new, super important for the first 100km to load it up with 20-40%% throttle for 3-5 secs on, brake, and on again, repeating for 100km at 2-3k in tall gears with less than 10psi with nothing richer than 12's, low timing, this will give the best results for ring sealing, failure to load an engine will also result in bore glazing, once it is glazed nothing will help.

Its got a lot in common with MotoMAN...Basically stay on mineral oil for a couple of thousand km's, then move to semi synthetic but stay away from Fully Synthetic oils until over 10000km.

I know of several LS1 powered cars that suffered from massiove oil consumption. they were babied and suffered as a result. Others were thrashed to the sh!ts and still going strong today.
When we got our VS senator (215 stroker) the first drive was to waroona and back (for work) a mixture of revs and loads was recommended.
Most manufacturers just tell you to vary the load, not sit at a constant rpm for prolonged time-frames and not over rev the motor (redline in every gear).

mineral oil seems to be the go for starters and then fully synthetic.

but i am sure the boys wiull know what to do.

interesting, I'm sure almost everyone will have a different opinion.

Personally, I did about 1000kms I think with boost cut set @ 0.5bar with my new 207. Not sure what oil was in it for that period but after that I put full synthetic in..

Was told just to drive it normally, vary the revs from cruising to high, take off easy, take off harder etc. but you are really limited by the boost cut, so that stops most of the fun. So you could still do WOT at low revs, say from 2000 on the freeway but have to lift off before 3000 as the boost ramps up...

When my dad bought his VY SS ute, I got to drive the car for much of the run in..... basically I used full throttle all the time when taking off, but let off about 2000rpm short of the revlimiter (which is 6000rpm). I also made an effort to drive up lots of hills in a higher gear.

Seems to have worked well as it hasn't burnt a drop of oil in its 5 years

A mate bought one and babied it and had to get the engine replaced. He was a chippy and when they replaced the engine they told him to put every tool he has in the back and the trailer and charge up greenmount in low gears a few times. Seemed to work for him.

So how many km's have you done and how high is your oil consumption...Subaru bottom end and you don't follow what they recommend...why? Would you stick your hand in a fire if you were told?
