That's you best bet.....but yes you can buy just the P20 exhaust housing but from memory they are around the $300 mark....could be a touch more.

Ringing around for a stuffed 22 or 23 would be a cheaper option....I picked up my 22 for $50 and it turned out to be fine, it just had a bit of foil, possibly from a cat converter, caught in the exhaust wheel.

Took the P20 off, ceramic coated it, wacked it on the VF34 done!
Put the P18 onto the VF22 and sold it for $600

and it now lives in Canberra, sitting in a box as my spare.

mattmy99, are you fitting the sti bucket OVER shims with the Cosworth cams to your 99 heads? If you are not then the high lift could cause you to drop a shim. Be warned, the standard heads are shim over bucket and prone to doing this with higher lift cams.

Default update

It's been a while, so i thought i'd give a quick update.

Have finished most of my shopping for engine bits. The list so far:

Tomei copy un-equal length headers
Cosworth 272degree, 10mm lift cams
Cosworth valve springs
Cosworth sump baffle
Sard 850cc injectors

Genuine Subaru:
Gasket & seal kit
All coolant hoses
Timing belt
Thermostat
Idler pulleys
water pump
oil pump

The heads have been ported and polished, and the intake manifold match ported also.

My doors had a number of shopping trolley dents, and were generally looking 10yrs old, so I've bought 4 new doors and front fenders/guards from Subaru. I also picked up new door/window rubbers and gx roof rails (without the roof-rack mounting holes)

The body is 90% completed, and is looking incredible! Photos just dont do Benson's work justice. The paint job is amazing! I'll wack a photo up of how it's looking at the moment.

It looks blue... it is, but has a teal/aqua/green metalic fleck in it. It's so glassy, and looks amazingly deep.
Couldn't be happier!

on this topic - for my build.. what are peoples recommendations for cams on the 207?

If iI do buy some - i'l be buying Kelford. I'm looking at the 264 / 264 type or should I be looking at 250 / 260 duration?

Considering the rest of the setup I'd be thinking 264 would be a minimum?

272 is the goer IMHO. What does your workshop recommend?

Time for another update i reckon.

The majority of the body work is finished (minus the final buff), and a few other little bits.
The car's back with cypher now to reinstall the engine.
Looks like my goal to have it driving by christmas is quite a possibility.

Thanks mate

The dash (and all other plastic parts) were sprayed by Benson BBK, with vinyl paint i bought from Automotive paint tools & equipment (APT&E) in East Cannington. The seats, door trims and roof lining are being done by JC trimming, and the false floor is being made by Beyond Customs in Morley.
