Default Rossco's Engine Build

First day of holidays so I suppose I'd better get started.

First off I'd like to thank Stacey for supplying me the donor motor that is the building block of my build....Cheers mate!

The block is an RA ej207, semi closed deck.

After cleaning & degreasing it was time to strip it.....

Clean!

Surprisingly the wrist pins were much easier to remove than I though they would be.

Slugs out:

Stace got these a 'little' hot at Collie on the skid pan
Pistons #1 & #2 have munted ring lands & seized rings:

Fugged pistons:

Looking at those ^^ you'd think the bores would be shagged....They only have minor scuffing - just enough to remove the hone marks & little more:

Cyl #1

Cyl #2

This ^^ is no problem as I'm going to a 93mm bore anyhow.

The other 2 cyls are perfect! & still retain the OEM hone marks after 80 odd thousand Kays:

Nice factory hone!

Cases split (main bearings were perfect condition):

Crank & OEM rods in situ:

Again the mains were perfect:

Crank in perfect condition:

The OEM STI rods were in perfect condition too, note that there are no marks on the big-end bearings whatsoever.

This brings to an end the first day..... Tomorrow it's off to the machinist's...
