I personally doubt they'd want me to supply them but if they want I can certainly point them in the right direction.

Although I agree that competition is a great thing for business, under cutting and offering identical parts as close to half the price is not good for anyone.
A once off supplier direct group buy is great, but to offer these same prices to every man and his dog on a daily basis is not benefiting anyone.

That's not a personal attack Wayne. I for one appreciate the products you make available at great prices. Just offering an opinion as to why ASG's products (although the same as what you can source) are higher to Joe Blogs off the street.

In my opinion, if protohoare, or Ballsac or one of many other long term customers went to ASG for prices on the same products, the quote would look remarkably different. Again, in my opinion, this is not a bad thing. Long term customers deserve looking after like this.

I can guarantee I'd pay a shit load more than Ramon for goods/services from MMS
It's wasn't a personal attack on ASG, yes they're a business and obviously mark products up but I was simply saying the quoted amount of $1200 is a bit much even if it does include fitting and that's only my opinion.

I know where your coming from and why your saying it Matt so no offence taken.

Most of the stuff I sell is and will be ongoing and not group buys as it seems to have been, I'm currently being registered as a business with abn etc and will eventually have a website selling permanent stock and benefiting the consumers with a Passion for Subaru's and eventually other manufacturers.

I will continue to sell cheaply as that is my main goal to stop people paying too much for parts, pretty much what Rob "ultrex" has done with his lips, spoilers etc and we all have to start somewhere where were classed as backyard dealers etc before we get well known an bigger.

I don't want to make this about myself so I once again apologise to all for originally taking this off topic and next time I'll pm the person involved about the pricing etc.

If Stace or any other mode want to clean up what I've said I have no problem with it.

Yeah I saw the results of the latest hot hatches vs the STi in the motor magazine (I think) today and the Ford times etc looked good, STi was ranked 9th if I remember correctly.

Other option is what other people have basically said, new 255 block, return to stock then sell and buy an STi but an 05 model as it has a 207 with forgies and they are a shite load cheaper these days too.

Best of luck whichever way you go with it all.

Seems to me that the consensus is, repair or replace standard engine, sell MY09 WRX, and buy a real car, so that means a Bugeye WRX or STI........
THats what I'm interpreting from this anyway.

I reckon keep the car, but just put a stock block back in it!! Don't waste your time building it.

Coming from experience with a 2.5ltr..

If you are going to build one..

IT NEEDS TO HAVE FLANGE TOP SLEEVES AND BE CLOSE DECKED..!!!!
that is all...

If you cant afford the extra 5K to do this then buy a 207 with worked heads and youll still enjoy it..

P.S heads are where the power is....

Ok, not trying to be another person giving you a downer, but... If you only have $10k realise this engine will be no faster than what you had before. Also, as usual engine builds go $10k is the starting price. You will spend more than that.

To go faster and make the use of a built engine, you have the following costs:

Cams: $1-2k
Turbo: $1-2k
Intercooler: $1k
Injectors: $?

I'm going to assume you have things like a fuel pump and 3" exhaust already.

Now if the MY10 is still R160, driving it like you stole it means you will most likely smash driveshafts and diffs. Diffs alone can be up to $2k each. If you smash them, you will probably do a gearbox or three. Upgrading to a 6 speed will be about $6k.

As you can see it quickly adds up!

I'd be asking the workshops how much to fix your current block, how much to replace with a new EJ255 short block and compare that to the big build you have priced before. If $10k is your maximum spend and $12k will make you bust, don't go for the $10k engine build as it normally creeps up.
