Hello all, my06 owner from QLD here, just reading up...

I have the same issue, but jsut wanting to confirm I'm giving the right diagnosis before I start replacing stuff, as I'm considerably broke at the moment.

Not long ago, I noticed that when I clicked my driver's side window switch, it would not respond... and then later it would. So I'd been dealing with this delay (usually only presented at perfect moments, like fast food drive thrus, RBTs) for a while, just appreciating that sometimes my window worked and sometimes it didn't.

Then, a month ago, the thing got stuck down. I was winding it down and I heard the motor starting to slow, then eventually it stopped. I ended up pulling the door trim of and whacking the motor with a hammer until it was all the way up (yes, fantastic method).

With limited knowledge, I tested the switch and it was giving me 12volts one way and neg12volts the other way, so I just assumed that my motor was shagged.

Now however, I'm starting to think that maybe a dodgy switch caused my motor to burn out???

Any insight here would be greatly appreciated, I know this is a Perth forum, but I get around these forums a bit...

Kindest regards, my0six

The window motors do fail quite frequently. They can stop altogether, or get slower or intermittently stop. Sometimes the cause is the sswitch not auto-stopping at the top or the bottom of the window's range. When you auto up or down listen carefully for the relay inside the switch to click off. If they stay live the motor heats up and eventually cooks the armature. If the switch is faulty and you renew the motor eventually the replacement will also fail.

Okay, long time no reply, sorry. I replaced the motor, on of the bushes / brushes (little carbon square thingy that contacts the copper bits on shaft) was burnt out a bit.

Now, when I click down, I hear the relay click, the window goes down fine. When I click up, same thing, fine fine.

However, if I then leave it for two mins and then click it down, the window stays... I hear the relay click, yetthe window stays put, BUT, that's not all (free ste of steak knives?) after me pushing it, hearing the relay "click" and about thirty seconds of nothing happening, it works! Then it works fine again, up and down... Unless I leave it for a while again.

Now when I wind it down, I hear the relay click off, it's about a second after the window has stopped at the bottom.

I've cleaned all contacts, pulled the thing (switch unit) apart, sprayed the sh*@ out of it, dried it and put alltogether again and this is the result.

I have no idea what's going on. The thing goes up and down fine, when it's working... But it's pretty frustrating.

So, there is a click from the relay, then nothing...
...then the window goes down, then the relay clicks off again.

Haha, any theories?
