Default Turbo & Diff QUESTION.

Hey all,

I have been looking into some set-ups used overseas on WRXs to try something different.

I have come across a few VF34 external wastegated set-ups in motorkhana and drags that are destroying the competition.

Just wondering if any one could shine some light on it is a good direction to get quick spool and solid top-end or just to much effort? (EG: VF34/P20 is better option cost and effort wise?)

And also what is a recemmeded rear diff for a daily 5-speed? 2nd hand STI? aftermarket? costs?

Daniel

P.S. sorry if I am ranting on about well travelled topics but I couldn't really find any Aussies using VF34 with EWG.

For a daily driven WRX. the stock rear Suretrac LSD is fine.

Next step up is R160 STI 2 way plated LSD. Next step up from that is something like a Cusco RS 2 way LSD. I would not recommend using a Cusco MZ LSD in a daily driver.

Vf34/p18 tops out at about 285 hp
vf34/p20 'might' make 300hp

They are a pretty responsive turbo with the small p18 exhaust housing.
TD06-20g or bigger trumps the VF in the 1/4 mile & big HP output.

The vf34 wouldn't trump any half serious drag orientated setup.

External gate on a vf34 is gayer than aids & nothing but WANK......

With a lot of boost it might get there i have one but not keep to find the limit of the p20 as my motor is not built and running a fair amount of boost as it is to get a lazy 276hp

ok, thanks guys.

So a VF34 is on the cards then, because the AVO450 is a 'tad' laggy...

or I get some headers and just keep the revs HIGH

VF34 upgrade on mine safe tune 20psi 200kws atw and 361nm was good choice for easy fit and with retune extra 15kw and 30nm spooled up quicker too.

I am just after a turbo that is a good streeter (great torque down low, not power in the last 2000rpm, AREA UNDER THE CURVE FTW!), compitent track set-up (torque out of corners) and over 200KW which is possible with both a VF30 and VF34.

So either seems to be right on the money of what I need from a turbo

So where would I pick up a decent one? STechnic? JWS? MMS? any of the following?

Cheers for the first hand experiences/knowledge.

Cheers mate, yeah for the street the standards are fine, I was just curious about if there was a 50% track 50% street diff (perfect in both worlds is abit tooooo much to expect in reality)
