I understand the points being made in regards to trackwork but the car is 90% a daily drive that is most of my driving is as boring as anybody elses.
As childish as it sounds all I am after is a kick in the pants when the turbo does come on song which is what I thought I would get in upgrading to the 18G. It did pull harder with an intake from memory even with only 10Nm more (that torque curve was much more peaky than the current one). I am going to do trackwork but NOT in this car (the future plan is to have a bog stock GC8 and learn in that with no power, build up experience, etc so if it goes boom I still have a daily). This car will see the skidpan and the occasional Barbs day but nothing too involving. Its not so much the numbers, its how it feels to drive. If it made 360Nm but still kicked hard I wouldn't care at all but right now it almost feels like I am driving an NA inline six. Very smooth power delivery (it felt a little more animal with the stock TD04 even though that little sucker only pulled in 2nd gear and was done by 4400rpm). As for the dyno sheets....shit thats embarassing, I didn't even realise they were in a different gear until this morning when I posted them up so my apologies for that. Independent dyno run will be happening; that is a certainty.

Sounds like you need a crappier tune. One that doesnt ramp on as nicely. A good tune should be a nice smooth increase.

I know what you mean Russ. That or I need that boost hit from a 2.0L haha.

There are a few people out there (not mentioning names) that tune like this.
Sadly we're not all rocket scientists and sometimes the owner gets tricked into a false sense of awesomeness on the tune. I'm not discrediting the "bum dyno" effect, we just need to exercise some caution when we go about ranting. For the record, I prefer smooth progression in power. |

Its all about real estate under the curve ... I'd take smooth progressive and early over laggy peaky and bigger numbers every day.
