Jacobs ladder is one of the worst things you could possibly do to your knees.

I would agree and disagree. As I said I definitely wouldn't recommend it unless you are already at a decent level of fitness, but if you are then lunging up the stairs works your quads and hammys hugely, resulting in strengthening the muscles that support your knees. However I will admit that it does place strain on your joints for sure but the large majority of this is when you go down the stairs, so if you don't go gung-ho on your way down I think the benefits would easily outway the negatives

I had a knee rebuild just on 3 years ago.

Both my specialist and physio told me to avoid that place like the plauge. Plenty of other places to work your quads etc without smashing your knees up and down on hard cement.

Ditto.. Had an ACL reconstruction and two subsequent cartage trims. All specialists suggest using a cycle machine/spin bike over running. Going down stairs is super hard on the joints so if I'm doing it I just run to the top (hitting every second stair) and then walk back down.

Agree with what you're saying but I'm just saying what I have found through personal experience. Basically the point I was trying to make was that going up the stairs is a lot less impact than running but still gives a good workout and builds strength around your knees.

Basically what I had already said to summarise for Scary:
Cycling is your best method! I would still recommend Jacobs/lunging though!

Probably should've put this in the "things that make me happy" but...
I just beat my personal best by a decent amount, for distance jogged.

Old PB: 15.1km

New PB(today): 21.3km

Half a marathon, just about. How long did it take you?

For you guys here into suppliments... what is something good to suppress hunger?

Not looking to starve myself or the like... but with a few changes in my diabetes medicines etc I now get huge hunger at times.. which is something I didnt need to deal with for 14 years.

Probably not what you want to hear but supplements are a rip off. Drink water when you're getting hungry or snack on healthy food if it's that bad. Apparently chewing gum works as well.

Saying that, I don't follow my own advice and usually just eat when I'm hungry so...

To be honest, I found hydroxycut worked awesome for it. But it is now banned in Australia.

Like I said its a huge change for my body and dealing with it is proving hard at times.
