Hey Rossco!

It's fantastic that you are so passionate about models that you're in a position to run a business that sells them and where you are able to give people advice.

You've got the look/identity that you want in your head, and with the skills they have, a professional designer will bring forward what you want people to see in ways that you can't. Just as you're passionate about your work, you should work with a professional designer who is passionate about THEIR work. The result will be a quality logo/branding that people will notice and remember.

Old Skool doesn't mean branding your business with a look of Microsoft Paint & Clip Art. Working with a pro designer will give you the old skool look you want with that necessary shine.

You've asked for feedback on your branding. The feedback has been negative. One person even suggested that they may not be interested in purchasing things from your store purely based on the amateurish branding design.
You need to take that feedback (which you asked for) on board.

Don't underestimate what bad (and good) branding can do for your business!

All the best Ross

Hey mate, just seen this now, and I know youve already had a couple of good pages of feedback about it, but just to continue on; when I see this design "Cheap, Nasty and Unprofessional" come to mind. Which is disappointing because you are probably close to the hardest working / most enthusiastic about your set of hobby's that I know. It doesnt show that you are enthusiastic, anybody would think its just been done with Microsoft Paint or done with WordArt and printed on a banner with some out-of-the-box clipart.

And while you say you want "Old School" is that what your customer base is going to agree with? Me personally, I want whiz-bang gadgets and 'cool shit' when I go to the hobby shops. I usually buy things that I think are different and interesting because I like to see how they work and what they do. I drop in when I go past HobbyTech (because its local) every few weeks just purely to see if there is anything cool and new I can buy. I dont need to buy it, but I find it interesting.

Oh... please don't sell tins of Tamiya paint for $13. They used to be $7 at HobbyTech - I guess they saw that Ryper is charging 12.95 and decided they can do the same.

Anyway - thats my feedback for you

Gotta be honest about the name, what about Our Hobby Shop, that way when you expand, franchise out the kid will just have to say Our Hobby Shop in Midland or Our Hobby Shop in Claremont etc etc..............Just an idea as The Hobby Shop is gone and a few My and Your are out there.

I think using "Our" (of which there are none) may also make people think it's part of them "and" you instead of it just being yours, just thinking

There won't be any franchises - It's family owned & operated.

'My Hobby Shop' is the name the financial partner wanted - was not my call - the shop isn't 'mine' per se.

I'll be running the e-commerce side & managing all stock control.

This is the last piece of work done for SiK - the Logo for the SikRC accessory line:

P.s Cam our Tamiya aerosols are $11.99 - you can blame the Australian supplier for a 25% wholesale price increase.

Today's list.

1 week till Dave Chappelle - AD need to get you your ticket

This one is a mixed bag - today is the last day of work for me after 8 years at the WC. I have done a lot, achieved a lot, but it was time for change, even if it was forced upon me somewhat. I will remain friends with many here. There is a sadness to leaving, but also great excitement at the next role I am taking on. News on that soon, but to say I am joining an awesome group and being led by a man I have a huge amount of respect for is not doing it the justice it is owed.

Getting Kayne West tickets!
