VF34 - Ball bearing = Fast spool - easily capable of 300+ hp at the hubs - stock fitment - can be found used for under $1k.

Fitting a 400hp turbo to a stock motor is a waste of time & will suck to drive/ be slow on the street.

A td05-20g will be way too much turbo for it & be inefficient.....That's what I'm fitting to mine to achieve 350 at the hubs...

A TD05- big 16G would be plenty for the bottom ends limitations & chocolate pistons.

I'd take a vf34 over a td05 for a stock blocked wrx for both power delivery & reliability.

thanks for the advice, i had a 298hp (at the hubs evo6) & sure it was reasonably quick, but not my kind of fun & i assume a vf34 would be similar.
i dont mind lag, with much more top end - sure its probably slower overall, but i like turbos that come on hard.
sounds crazy i know, but thats what i prefer.

Rossco, if you can show me a VF34 that's worth buying & even for sale for under $1000 ill grab it.

Honestly.. Been looking into this for ages and for the money a brand new TD05 16/18g seems damn good performance/value.

I don't doubt your opinion at all infact I just spent - few *hours/months looking into the difference..

I just can't bring myself to buy a second hand possibly over boosted/damaged VF34 vs a brand new TD05 16/18g turbo.

Both bolt on.

rossoe, look at the specs of this turbo (hitachi rx7)

Compressor wheel 43.7 / 63 mm
- Turbine Wheel : 54.8 / 64.1 mm

thats a big hot side, i had that on a 1.6 in a mazda 323, best fun ive had on four wheels
