Yeah.. the original engine builder has said 3000kms. I have been told about dyno run in from everyone else.
Who do you listen too?. most people say always listen to your engine builder. Rossco did a 1500km run in im pretty sure

My engine builder suggested 5,000km on a boost and rev limited tune (14-15psi, 5,500rpm) ... that would take me 10 months to do, lol.

First 100km no more than 3krpm no boost or minimum actuator/ wastegate pressure using running in oil. Then 500kms of varying load slowly introducing more revs and more boost getting closer to a maximum 5000rpm and 14 psi as you get nearer to the 500kms mark.
After that 500 I'll drop the oil change the filter and go fully synthetic. Time for tuning and proper boost then. I've tried the gently gently approach several times and the engines I ran in that way always seemed to use the most oil. The method described above has served me well over the years and oil consumption has been minimal. Considering 2.5s are notorious for oil consumption I've just had to top mine up for the first time in about 3000 kms where it needed just over half a litre to bring it back to the full mark. That's with daily driving and seeing 1.7 bar on a regular basis. I think Subaru deem anything more than 1 litre/1500kms needs looking at.

Lol. 1L per 1500kms on a car that takes less than 4L oil to fill. Do the maths on that and if it gets that bad you wont even make it to the next service interval.

It's what Subaru stipulate. It's the point at which they'll pull the engine for warranty claims following an oil consumption test. Any consumption less than that Subaru deem acceptable. Google it if you like or better still ask your mate Mick

I dont doubt it. I was just making fun of the fact that you could have an engine using lots of oil, so much so that it would literally run out before it got to the next service, and subaru would consider that within the limit.

Alright guys. Everything is pretty much done. The last thing i have to do is select a damn turbo. I have been stuck on a Blouch 20g XTR and a 1.5 Dom XTR for about a month now.
Having no experience in anything larger than a vf28 i dont know which way to go. Which would pack the most punch on a 2.1L with 272 cams. Am interested in hearing from anyone that has had either of the two on a similar setup
