Plugs are actually a good idea, Rich.

I had a bit of a prob with idle, especially with air con on (well over a year ago). New plugs in and even a new lead for one of them as it was starting to go apparently (mind you, car had 200k+ on it).

That solved it. I hope you can too, coz I know how much of a turd it is when your car is not going/going badly

I had this problem about 2 years ago. 95 GC8. Had all 4 swapped out for brand new ones and boosted perfectly. Was well diagnosed by Tenagah. They also considered fuel pump/filter issues and afm.

Just put the old coils out for roadside garbage collection today...

Nope, stock fuel system, apart from 550cc injectors and a Walbro 255lph pump.

Honestly i reckon its ignition issues more then fuel. Then again id be hoping its ignition issues. I think id rather it over fuel then underfuel and detonate.

Hey Eric, well that's the thing mate .. A few weeks after a good clean, I still get a very fine haze of sooty deposits on the boot, and i am not getting awesome fuel economy - So it's not running lean while cruising around, but that's not to say it isn't while on boost.

Oh and when it cuts out there is no loss in power to electrical devices.

Neg, MY01. Car is going back for hopefully the last time next week to have my rear brakes on and hopefully this sorted out. It seems to be worse when plodding around with the A/C on. Bit more of a rougher idle, and seems to 'miss' easier ..

Checked the pricing of an AFM with Subaru today, get this:

--------

I'd love to, However $868 is daylight robbery and a slap in the face for that component! I think I will look at other avenues and use that as an extreme last resort.

Cheers for the price anyway.

Hi Richard
The Air Flow Meter is $868.56 inc gst, just for the part. Without fitting it. We can get one today for you. If you need it.
Thanks
