Subaru Australia FAIL
Ramon, but remember that Subaru Aust is actually Inchcape and is not part of FHI...importing cars including Subarus is their business...so they are really only interested in cars coming into Aust, which is why things like Subaru Motorsport (Aust) are separate entities.
Not defending them, but that's just the way it is...

If contacting Japan, you may not get a response this week.
Got the following from a Japanese supplier for my work.

This is to inform you of Japanese seasonal holidays,
so called “Golden Week”, over April-May.

We will take holidays on following date(s).
April, 29th
May, 2nd to May, 6th
During those days, all of our office & factory will stop operation.

I had a similar issue with Telstra and Foxtel once, got them on a conference call together and listened to them fight it out

Ramon,

I have a small article in an old MOTOR mag on your S201, you interested? I can scan it for you if you wish.

Cheers

Decided to bump this thread rather than starting a new one but I have just got off the phone from Dotars.

I applied for an rally import permit in August 2007 because I thought I had a car lined up. I never supplied a vin etc as I did not have that information. It was all approved and I paid my $50. Anyways more out of curiosity than anything I rang to see if it was still current. Turns out it is....

Anyways I asked him if they had tightened up the rules on importing rally reg cars etc and he said no. He said what they have really tightened up on is when someone sends a car out of the country i.e. a commodore and then imports it back in again. Up until recently they did not have to even apply for an import permit and he was saying people were sending them out and modifying them etc.

So spotydog your application for your rally car should be good assuming you can show some motorsport history.

Food for thought anyways.

Brendon
