I use BP or Shell V. Have never used Caltex Vortex in a vehicle that requires 98RON fuel. I have put it in the mrs commodore before, but very rarely. I don't find much difference in Shell vs BP, but I am running a stock vehicle. I do generally use Shell though, because it's cheaper

For example, petrol with the same knocking characteristics as a mixture of 90% iso-octane and 10% heptane would have an octane rating of 90. This does not mean that the petrol contains just iso-octane and heptane in these proportions, but that it has the same detonation resistance properties.
Fuel with a RON of higher than 100 are possible because iso-octane is not the most knock-resistant substance available.

So in theory, a fuel with with RON98 properties is exactly that, RON98. However, they all contain different ingredients to achieve that rating. All of which perform differently in different engine.

I personally have had the most success using BP ultimate.

V power isnt even included in this list and is probably the best of the lot.

You've answered your own question there! Also, I have a Shell and Caltex within 100m of each other. The shell is regularly 10-14c a litre cheaper than the caltex. It's a matter of principle

I noticed no difference between the shell v-power and bp ultimate at all. Except the price. But seeing how I have 3 seperate BP stations within 3kms of my house, and the closest shell is around 10km away, I'm willing to pay a few extra dollars for the BP
