Only reason I would think there was any point to do so is that the car was an S-Series or rare Subaru that is worth personally importing.. (of which there are a few here and there) Just your average run of the mill mass produced STI wouldn't be worth it. Most just get half cuts or parts and transplant into an Aus shell
