Default I have a couple of questions

iv been looking at buying an sti for a little while now and i have settled on a 2002 jap spec sti.i have always loved the shape, they come with a ej207 and the 6 speed.

I have only been able to find one over east.

My questions are:
what are the differences between an aussy spec sti and a jap spec sti?.Iv heard they have slightly more power and a larger turbo, but what else ?

why are they hard to find?

and if i bought one from over east with mods such as exhaust, coilovers and intake, would it be fairly easy to get it passed pits and registered here in perth?

thank you for your time

Marti

Why are they hard to find?

Because Subaru sold the car in Australia you cannot legally import a Jap car for anything other than race rally.

If it is indeed "jap spec" its either a reshell, personal import (I am not sure who would find a bug eye so precious to bring it over from J) or a race rally. Why bother with either when there is plenty of local ones.

I'd want proof of import approval and a JDM VIN first. Likely the vin points to an 01 GX

It doesn't make sense, so as the mantra goes...

If it is too good to be true (and the seller is a uncooperative prick who wont help you verify anything) it most likely is.

Not too sure, from what he told me, genuine Australian delivered jap spec STI, there was not much difference from "quote what he told me" bigger turbo, factory tint?, rear wiper...

car looks immaculate, would find the link, but work IE7 is a world of fail and refused to load.

I was very seriously looking at bringing it over until he stopped returning my calls, messages etc. FYI the car has about 78,000km's as of 2 months ago.

This is just what I have been told by the owner, but with low kms, and that condition, very suspicious why it hasn't sold.
