First things first...wow thanks for the positive welcome and feedback guys! It's nice to find a local Perth Forum that sounds like it is not for the 'elitist only' and also has a cruisy bunch of guys. Really appreciated.

20 k gives you a better 6 speed, brembo brakes, bigger axels, bigger motor
Realy an overall higher rating car

Yeah I will agree with you that the bigger brakes (not so great on the WRX) and the larger EJ257 would be nice...but the FA20 is nice enough for me! As was mentioned I am no track racer; I think it's just not my thing. As a 36 yr old retired daily driver my focus was more on a nice set of wheels than on hooting performance...I'm sure I will catch the bug and change my mind

I pulled the $20k off the top of my head...apologies if that is wrong nauli..no offence intended and yes you are correct 8k of mod's are on their way in shortly but that will be it for under bonnet frivolities...just nicely fast is fine IMHO.

A full tune, dyno, chip?
A good idea, do not do it too early but 3,000km should be ok, get the tuner's opinion on that and on the need for a BOV.

G'day wrx oh oh...umm my apologies as I am not an engine man (audio is more my thing) but to answer your question yes it is a full EcuTEK tune and dyno. Yeah and I have caught some negative feedback from around regarding the BOV so that might get put aside...the way I heard it was that it was better for the air not to be venting out but to be sent back in - sorry for the LAME terminology!

Regardless thanks for the welcome guys and though I am not much in the engine department...if you ever need some car audio gear give me a PM! I have thousands of $ of the stuff lying around

Peace, Buff

Haha...well I'd hope to at least be a 'positive decent guy that helps others out' than the increasing number of forum members (not so much here but certainly a few other forums I have BRIEFLY been a member of) that just hate and do nothing for anyone except start fights

On that note though I have a pile of car audio stuff to sell (or give away for a sixer and a good chat)...not talking about shite either, I have some bloody good gear, Hertz SX300D barely used, Hertz HSK165XL's new in box, PDX-V9 in good condition with all papers, an entry level DSP...sheeeet there would be a $300 of power cable in my power cable box alone 0, 2, 3, 4, 8 gauge in varying lengths...I'm sick of advertising on BumTree and getting BS texts all day.

There's plenty more gear and I'll advertise (if it's allowed!) in the right spot here but PM if you're interested in anything - or if you are doing an install and find yourself half a metre short of cable or need two more connectors...happens to us all! Will give real good prices due to everyone here being 'similarly minded' with regard to WRX's...I'm learning a fair bit by reading past threads so I consider that as a 'pay it forward' situation.

Peace Guys,
Josh

Possibly the thought that I am talking out my ass so wanted to put that to bed certainly want 18's or 19's (possibly STi rims are fine...I wanted the FA20DIT but I have not animosity and only respect to the STi version!) then rotors, Brembo's, and pads to slow her down.

In thinking the addition of a BOV is more of a 'Don't Tread on Me' Mr HSV...rather than a performance addition. If (more like when) it comes time to get a 'short block' - I think that is what it is called? then I will happily throw all the fruit under the bonnet.

I don't 'dick measure' - so I apologise if it comes across that way - but I do have money so that is not a concern. I only want to chat and learn and help if I can with any other guys here

As I am an audio man: very quickly the install will consist of
2 Image Dynamics 12D2's
2 Phoenix Gold Elite.5's
Front stage is a Focal Utopia Be three way set
Likely an 8160 head unit
A Helix Pro DSP with controller
All the rest that you would expect with that level of install. All parts are bought and gathering dust but getting mods done first before stereo fun.

Cheers Guys
Peace,
Josh

As I have recently been enlightened that build logs are encouraged I will add that on Wednesday this week the WRX goes into a place with the initials MM and will have the following added:
Invidia turbo back exhaust
Process west verticooler
Process west cold air intake
Whiteline sway bars front and rear
Some additions to the steering
A turbosmart BOV (understood it is not a performance addition but more a 'f*** off HSV' addition)
A full ECUTek tune and dyno....I will post the results up

Not sure that much more can be done to an FA20DIT without cooking the con rods; however swapping in a decent EJ257 isn't a dream. Any thoughts would be welcome

Cheers guys
Josh
