If you are trying to lose weight you need to understand that it is an energy problem not a food type problem.

This is shown with the juice issue. Fruit is considered "healthy" but it is energy rich. Therefore Boost juice is the same for your body as a Coke in energy terms and you get just as fat by having one or the other.

If you have carbs then you need to only have a small amount because it is energy dense. If you have something that is low energy like lettuce or cabbage, you can eat shitloads of it and still get less energy into your system than a small bowl of carbs.

From this you should learn that its not the quantity that you are eating but

QUANTITY OF FOOD X ENERGY IN THAT FOOD = TOTAL ENERGY INTAKE.

eg
COKE = 800kj+
BOOST JUICE = 800KJ+
PEPSI MAX = 5KJ
you could have almost endless PEPSI MAX A DAY AT NO COST TO YOUR BODY!

Drink choice can save you the equivalent of a small meal. The person who has 1 or 2 full strength cokes a day wont lose weight if they don't do far more exercise than the person who has the pepsi max.

The key to losing weight is substituting low energy/low GI foods for high energy high GI foods.

As soon as your bodies intake of KJ is less than its outgoing of KJ you will start to lose bodyfat slowly.

I have lost 20kg since Dec last year and I have a super slow metabolism

Second picture is from March to Now. Have put on some more muscle as I sorta got the dieting going toooo heavy for a little bit.

Its funny the chain used to be sorta tight around my neck and now its loose as.

The amazing thing is how much weight you lose from all over your body. My shoes are fitting easier! my watch is hell loose. I think the only area thats not thinner is my ears. Fingers and hands are a lil smaller.

The whole "dont eat carbs" shit goes out the window when your a type one diabetic and require it at every meal to counter the synthetic insulin you shove into yourself

However, i finally joined a gym on monday (i got an invoice to prove it!) and have been going daily so far this week. Gave all my booze to my old man, and junk shit to my mum. Strict diet for the next few months to see how I go.

I know what you mean Polar, my wrists have gotten smaller too.

It's not necessarily carbs are bad, like others have said in this thread (Bakks comes to mind), it's all about your total calorie count. If you use more than you consume, you will lose weight, simple as that. Carbs at night are bad because if you don't use them, they get stored as fat. Simple rule, if you eat pasta then go root the shit out of your mrs or have the most furious wank of your careeer.

Good luck TJ, stick to it this time mate.

Totally agree. I sometimes eat chocolate... but then I wont eat anything else and that makes my "meal" for that block of 3 hours. The energy of that chocolate is = salad roll so it is just a choice issue (provided you are eating a range of food during the day to get all you need of minerals and protein and carbs etc).

For me I process carbs so well that I can't really eat them at all. I don't eat much if any bread or rice or pasta.

Yeah ill be ok, think ive refound some of that will power I had two years ago.

Been a crazy few months.

Went to Sydney, lived off pizza, hooters and drive through shit for a week. Got back feeling great, went yup its diet time.

2 days later went to play basketball, did my knee 10 minutes in. In the 5 weeks I that I was pretty much confined to doing SFA I smashed on 25kg, which really got me down. Managed to drop 15 of those in 4 weeks... and then hit party season hard. You know the deal, go out, have too much to drink, then eat anything you get your hands on because it seems like a good idea, then laze around the entire next day because your buggered. Not a very good way to lose weight!

So the goal is to find an hour a day for the gym, and resist drinking etc while out. Ive done it before, and ill do it again

Watermelon is tops for dieting. High water content relative to its carb content land its got amino acids that improves insulin sensitivity resulting in less fat storage. About 45 cals/cup and it makes you feel fuller than other foods due to the water content.
