1. Talk to Doug at Stechnic
2. Read the CAMS Manual of Motorsport 3. Buy an already converted car for gravel use.

This is Peter Spight, good honest bloke, I think its up for sale to try and keep the boss (wife) happy.. Putt Putt Pete is an honest peddler in the car, out there to enjoy himself, not to win anything. Would be a great learning car.. He ran the WA Youth Rally Team for many years and the last couple of years has been his time driving.. Cheers Ashley |

easiest way is to join the local rally club ask questerns there, some people here wont know.
what you need is all class dependant,eg weld in etc you may be able to purchase the correct book to base your build on but ill have a stab here 1.weld in cage to spec with tig 2.fia approaved fixed back seats 3.gutted flamables in side car 4.fire extingusher 5.make sure the car has no oil leaks etc make sure it mechanical sound 6.proper rally tyres 7.if still avaiable group b rego |

The cage rules changed for new logbooks issued in 2012. Although the new regs don't rule out bolted in/bolted together cages they affectively make it impossible to build one as they now require diagonal bars in the roof, hoop and door openings thus making welded together, welded in cages the way to go. The 2012 regs also mean cacges are substantialy heavier. A ready built, already logbooked car will be a much better starting point even if you have to go right through the car and refurbish everything. Peter Spight's car would be a decent car for the $$.
Normally I wouldn't reccomend starting in a WRX, but they're cheap enough thesedays and readily repairable so I guess if you can why the fuck not? |
