Ok so I get HR to interview this guy that is earning $25 / hr with commuter use of a vehicle. I offer him the same role but on a union site (Fiona Stanley Hospital) at $45 / hr with full penalty rate etc but no vehicle and he said no because he needs a vehicle. By vehicle it is a van full of retic fittings. Not exactly something you could go trolling with.

FFS you would be earning nearly an extra $1000 / week (based on a 5.5 day week). Buy a bunky and catch the train to site you moron.

I have a similar problem at my work... some chick who injured her leg 1 year ago (!!!) but is still milking the compo...
She's at my store but I don't pay her... she is on 'office only' duties - which we don't really want to give her as we like to be organised and get things done properly - and she only has to work 4 hrs twice a week. In the last 6 weeks she has less than a 50% attendance. When she is at 'work', she is fine to walk around, make herself food etc, but when asked to help out by doing something simple, she says 'oh i can't, my leg... '

Needless to say I have said the right things to the right people and presto, she has suddenly started being useful.

Job still available and what is it doing? I'd use my rex as a work vehicle for $45 an hour...

Had a staff member about a month ago trying to get into my department (produce) and bragging about how good he was at his old store. We decide to give him a shot (we had no choice) and within a week, the cunt had booked a week off for Xmas (in supermarkets this is the worst thing you can do).

He held a crate of corn up with a label on the side that said 'corn', and the dumb fuck asks me "Is this corn?". Apparently "they look different when they have the green leaves on them".
A few days before he left he thought nectarines were some type of apple.

Next guy that took his place replied "I don't care" to a customer that asked where an item was. Glad I'm gone from there now.

Plus the $120 odd a week redundancy contribution that is paid out when they leave / are sacked or the job is over. Long service contributions and minimum super you have to pay. Add to that they have a standard 5% pay rise each year. That job is a bloody cash cow to anyone working there. The 23yo labourer I have working there is making $100k + / year. Fuck, wish I was making that kind of bank at that age......

I couldnt agree more. We have a totally unqualified 21 or 22 year old and he worked 49 hours one week and earnt something stupid like $2500. The unions completely run the site and wont let us introduce anything to save money and Multiplex just roll over and tell you not to make a fuss.

Also they get boots provided, unlimited PPE for them and their extended families, their tool boxes at home topped up with whatever tools they want to take from work because you cant get rid of anybody unless you physically catch them stealing....then you have to give them 3 warnings and send them to counselling. It makes council workers look like slaves!

Job is installing irrigation at the hospital. Several years work ahead of us out there. Full blown union site. You have to pay union fees but then you have to also pay an additional $20 / week (cash only as the will refuse to your face to issue a receipt) contribution to the 'fighting fund' for the 'brothers at alcoa' who are taking unauthorised strike action. Funny thing is if you talk to the guys at Alcoa do you think that they have received $1 from the 'fighting fund'?
