Thanks you dtrally, that explains it...I do leave my car to idle in the morning to warm up...never doing that again.

Ive got a basic understanding to how the inside works...if it is what you said dtrally...issit better of replacing or keep it and do the repair.

This is the second time it jammed up, but then first time we thought it was just bits got stuck. I just want a peace of mind!

Whatever it takes you wont regret it. The latter model 6 speeds have slightly taller high gears than the earlier ones. If you do a fair bit of highway driving might be worth trying for a later model box.
