Default Woo hoo First Head off!

Got the first head off tonight, the Rh one:

Here's the Bores after 240,000km:

The block is interesting, I was expecting to see a semi-closed deck block but......

Shouldn't this ^^ be semi-closed???

They look like standard cast WRX pistons, can you confirm if they are? The WRX RA had standard cast pistons as opposed to an STi RA, but did come with a CR of 9:1 Do your pistons have HB on the face?

Here is a WRX RA engine number for example EJ207DW2KE-14B 970417 GF10 this had shim over buckets, group N cams, cast pistons 9:1cr, open EJ20 block and ID2 valves.

Note the ID3 valves in your photo...Sodium filled...nice! The cams are probably Group N. Are the heads shim over or under bucket, I can't confirm from the photo's? If so this makes them STi heads at least.

Really shows the pseudo random selection of parts Subaru use on a what's in the parts bin today basis!

Fwiw from dismantled Aus delivered Version 6 STi's I have seen numerous with the open deck EJ20 blocks and only ONE with a semi closed EJ207. I guess they changed over during the production for supply or testing issues. Confusing when they both genuinely carry EJ207 as their part number.

Whats the target HP for this build and what turbo are you planning on using? And thanks for documenting it.
