hahah thats rediculous! I would be super concerned about bore washing as a 4cyl shouldnt be using that much fuel. I dont care how much boost its running.

Yeah its crap but its been like that on this engine for the last 45,000km. Bores are all good thankfully.

Im getting the parts together for some new injectors/rails/lines/pump. Probably going to run some ID 1000+cc injectors so the car is ready to run on e85.

I will keep the tread updated with the findings of the injector testing. I hope to do a test of the standard v decapped v SARD. This will be inclusive of spray pattern and flow rates, at a set pressure with different RPM ranges

Make your set pressure is 43psi (factory fuel pressure).

Any lower or higher will give incorrect results.

Does the pressure not change through the rpm range due to boost pressure? It would be interesting to see the differences between the injectors at different rpm ranges, set to my boost settings on the dyno chart from the base map. Or is this not possible?

You could, but that would cost a fortune to test.

43.5psi is the factory FPR setting for no vaccum, no boost. i.e. the perfect comparison point.

I have seen people try to compare injector patterns with one injector at 20psi, one at 60psi yada yada. That is just utter shit. Some testing machines struggle to pump enough fluid through a 800+cc injector at 43psi, so they dial the pressure down to something the machine can handle. This gives the user no real information about the injector imo.

Think of it like a hose with a sprayer. Your mate has a sprayer that he reckons is much better than yours. If his is at full pressure and yours is barely turned on, that doesn't tell you which is the better sprayer.

read tuna tech fuel pressure regulators.

also, as your static fuel pressure increases, fuel volume drops, like holding your thumb over a hose.

Would there not be different spray Patterns or different atomisation properties at different pressures? I would have thought that it would be different spray or atomisation between 3 bar, compared to 5 bar? Whatever tests Mao wants to do it will be fair and consistent throughout over the 3 types. Standard pinks, decapped pinks and the sards I have bought.
