Today was a pretty cool day all round:
I had the opportunity to throw my car on a hoist, rip out my dead rear diff & help Stace build up a replacement for me. First surprise of the day was that my old rear diff had a viscous centre (ala forrester rear diff) not the Suretrac lsd it was supposed to have........This obviously wasn't the original diff. Ugly, ugly spider gears......viscous diff centre...Not STI Suretrac! ![]() (Pink stuff is redline heavy duty shock proof) Surprise number two was this: ![]() Count the missing teeth on the crown wheel......Yup..........4 teeth are absent! lol.... No wonder it was getting a bit noisy....ha ha! She now has a silent 4.44 Suretrac centered diff.....The type it was supposed to have all along! Cheers for today Stace!

Iphone 4 spec shots work out pretty well hey?
Stace also showed me how to disassemble an inner cv joint (never had to do one before) & repack it correctly.....In prep for doing your front drivers one Jase (I still need to do the same one on mine too).

the gc8 turbo front drivers have a slightly different construction to the rear axles,
instead of balls, they use 3x small discs, but that inner-ring is still the same. non-turbo front axles are the regular ball & cage setup.
